Tottenham Hotspur are now said to be showing serious interest in signing a striker this summer who has already scored 22 goals this season.

The game could perhaps prove as something of a turning point for Spurs, who have still been a little indifferent in their other wins of late.

We’re of course setting the bar pretty high when critiquing a win against Crystal Palace for example, but Postecoglou wants his team to be judged like one of the best.

And against Villa, Spurs proved just how resolute and ruthless they can be when they can be once they sense an opportunity.

Tottenham dealt with the early chances on the counter and outclassed Unai Emery’s side.

That being said, Tottenham now seem pretty advanced with their interest in a striker who is playing his football in Belgium.

According to Fennec Football, Spurs are now interested in signing 23-year-old forward Mohamed Amoura.

Signed from FC Lugano last summer, Amoura has now scored 22 goals in 38 appearances for Union Saint-Gilloise this season.

According to the report, Tottenham are ‘closely monitoring’ the striker’s progress and their scouts were present when he faced Fenerbahce in Europe last week.

Unfortunately Union Saint-Gilloise were outclassed on that occasion, losing 3-0, but that doesn’t take away from what Amoura has achieved this season.

The striker has 22 caps and six goals for his national team, Algeria, and does look to be an exciting young talent.

In particular Amoura has taken the league campaign by storm, scoring 17 goals in 23 games.

Of course, this is not the first time Tottenham are said to have had interest in a striker playing in Belgium.

Gift Orban, who is now at Lyon in France, played for KAA Gent in the Jupiler Pro League last season.

And for comparison, his record in the Belgian league was 12 goals in 27 games.

So perhaps on his goal scoring alone, Amoura does present a more ready-made option for Tottenham.

It’ll certainly be an interesting one to follow, and perhaps any deal will hinge on Tottenham’s qualification for the Champions League, which may alter the level of their targets.

And with that in mind, Alan Shearer has now been predicting who will finish fourth.
