Tottenham manager news: Title-winning boss not out of the picture
A report by BBC Sport has claimed that Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has never been completely dismissed by the Tottenham board.
The 51-year-old was one of the early mentioned names when Jose Mourinho was sacked.
Shortly after he penned a new deal with the Dutch giants with many presuming that was the end of that.
Now, it’s believed that Ten Hag is in the running for the job again with Tottenham reeling after another setback.
Ex-Roma boss Paulo Fonseca was all set for the position. Talks collapsed though and Spurs turned their attentions to Gennaro Gattuso.
That forced a hostile reception out of the Spurs fans and those plans were immediately shelved.
Ten Hag has overseen 167 games in charge of Ajax. He’s led his side to 123 wins and has an impressive win ratio of 73%.
He is renowned for his nice style of play and also has a knack of developing younger talent.
Tottenham also have Roberto Martinez in their sights.
That move will take longer to finalise though, with the ex-Everton boss currently managing Belgium who are at Euro 2020.
Ten Hag is a name that doesn’t seem off the table just yet though and that might delight the Tottenham faithful.
Tottenham should pull out the stops for Ten Hag
Their attempts to appoint a new manager haven’t progressed very well so far.
Antonio Conte was all set for the job, before Fonseca became the next to fall out of the race
Now, Tottenham look in danger of being back to square one in their efforts to appoint Mourinho’s successor.
Ten Hag does look like one name that would excite the fans.
He would surely welcome the project at Tottenham and he could be the man to get the team firing again.
Spurs need to move quickly now and all roads lead to the Ajax boss.
