Tottenham man Harry Kane is the best forward in the world, says £27m England teammate

Luke Shaw has backed England teammate Harry Kane by insisting the Tottenham ace is the best forward in the world.

Kane, 27, has made a slow start to this summer’s European Championship, so is receiving a fair amount of criticism.

He’s failed to score in either of the opening two group matches, as well as being substituted off in both.

The England captain has been quiet in the last week, but he goes into this tournament after scoring 33 goals in all competitions this season for Spurs.

Manchester United and Three Lions £27million defender Shaw has given his support to Kane.

“There is no concern at all. For me I think he’s the best striker in the world,” Shaw told the Evening Standard

“He is a very important part of this team if not the most important part of this team. He is a crucial player for us. For me he is the best striker in the world. We need him.

“His performances have not been what was expected, but that happens in tournament football. You can score at any moment. He is such a crucial player. He’s got all our backing. I am not worried at all.”

Kane too good to be kept quiet in England shirt

It’s been a bizarre start to the Euros for someone of Kane’s ability. But, surely that won’t continue for long.

The Spurs frontman belongs in the category of the world’s elite strikers because of his consistency for several years.

He’s got the record of a World Cup golden boot. However, winning a trophy with England at the Euros this summer would top that.

Kane has shown he’s got a knack of going on great goalscoring runs. Therefore, it won’t be long until he rediscovers his shooting boots.

It’s just a case where England’s creative players need to start doing more by providing a better supply line, while Kane needs to get in the right areas.
