Ousmane Dembele was a name that wouldn’t quite go away during January, with the Frenchman linked with a host of clubs over in the Premier League.
Ultimately, Dembele ended up staying put in Barcelona. This, despite reported interest on deadline day from the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal, and PSG. Indeed, it was even claimed that Spurs had tried extremely hard on deadline day to try and land Dembele.

Barcelona are thought to have wanted Dembele to seal a move. He is on big money and is no nearer to signing a new contract. His current deal expires in the summer, and the Frenchman is looking increasingly likely to leave for nothing.
However, for now anyway, Dembele is back in the picture for Barcelona, having been included for the Catalan giants’ matchday squad to face Atletico Madrid this weekend. Barca confirmed the news on Twitter, which also sees another Tottenham target in Adama Traore also included.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will go again for Dembele in the summer. However, you can imagine Paratici and co will be keeping a firm eye on proceedings.
TBR’s View: Tottenham Should Move On From Dembele
Being completely frank, it seems that Dembele is just interested in what big contract he can get. For Spurs, who need players who are going to run through brick walls for Antonio Conte, it appears Dembele just isn’t the right player.
Sure, he has huge talent. He would also be a marquee type signing. But there seems to be more negatives, and a big financial outlay as well, that would be a problem for Tottenham.
All in all, it’s probably time for Spurs to park this one. Even if some do consider Dembele to be a ‘world-class’ talent.
