Report: Tottenham have tried all day to sign £97m attacking talent but player could now end up at Chelsea
Well, another hour ticks by, and it’s another transfer blow for Tottenham Hotspur, this time in the form of Barcelona forward, Ousmane Dembele.
Reports from Spain this evening suggest Spurs have been trying all day to thrash out a deal to bring Dembele to London. However, Sport claims that despite an intense round of negotiations throughout the day, Dembele will not be joining Tottenham, with Fabio Paratici finally calling time on the deal.
To add insult to injury for Spurs and Paratici, Sky have reported that the only English club who are realistically going to land Dembele are Chelsea. It’s claimed the player’s relationship with Thomas Tuchel is a key factor in any deal.
Barcelona are hoping Dembele can find a move before the window shuts at 11pm. The club are hoping to sign Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and want to free up wages to do so.
Dembele has struggled at Barca since signing for £97m. He is now expected to go for nothing, or a nominal fee.
TBR’s View: Story Of The Window For Tottenham
You have to give Paratici some credit, he does seem to have tried for some big names this month. Albeit, he has failed in most of those pursuits.
Ousmane Dembele is just another one to add to the list. It was always going to be a long-shot. But Dembele potentially going to Chelsea does sting a little bit here.
