Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are interested in signing Hugo Lloris from Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
That is according to The Mirror, which has noted Tottenham’s stance on Lloris.
So, what has been reported about Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Hugo Lloris? Let’s take a look.
Newcastle United linked with Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris
Well, according to The Mirror, Newcastle United are interested in signing Hugo Lloris from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
The report has noted that Newcastle are looking for a potential cover for Nick Pope, who is injured at the moment and will be on the sidelines for up to four months.

Newcastle tried to sign Lloris on the final day of the summer transfer window. The £100,000-a-week (Spotrac) French goalkeeper turned down the move.
Lloris is out of contract at Spurs at the end of the season. Tottenham are willing to offload the Frenchman in the January transfer window, even on a loan deal. Newcastle are likely to consider just a loan deal for Lloris.
Hugo Lloris should consider Newcastle United transfer in January
In my view, Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris should seriously consider a move to Newcastle United in the January transfer window.
The 36-year-old is not going to become part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans at Spurs anytime soon. He is reportedly frustrated.
He is out of contract at Tottenham in the summer of 2024 anyway. So, why not spend the next few months on loan at a Newcastle team who are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season?
Like Tottenham, Newcastle are a big and established club in the Premier League who have grand ambitions. I believe that Lloris would enjoy playing week in and week out for a competitive team.
