Report: Tottenham have held discussions about signing 'incredible' four-title winner this summer
According to reports this weekend, Tottenham have held active discussions inside the club about bringing back Christian Eriksen on a free-transfer this summer.
Eriksen is currently excelling with Brentford, who gave the Dane his big chance after the horrendous incident during the Euros saw him barred from competing in Serie A. Thomas Frank took a punt on the midfielder, and it’s safe to say that Eriksen has returned the favour so far.
However, his future is far from certain. Frank admitted this weekend he doesn’t know if Brentford can keep Eriksen and according to Football.London, the Dane is indeed on Tottenham’s wishlist this summer.
FL reports how Tottenham insiders have discussed the possibility of signing Eriksen for nothing. The 30-year-old left the club for Inter Milan previously, where he won the Serie A title under Antonio Conte.
Aston Villa and Newcastle are also believed to be keen on signing Eriksen this summer. However, Spurs will be hoping the thought of an emotional return to a club whose fan base already love him, could tempt the Danish star.
Eriksen has enjoyed a stellar career which includes more than 100 caps for Denmark and four league titles.
TBR’s View: Eriksen Back To Tottenham Is Fairytale Stuff
It wasn’t like Eriksen left Spurs under any sort of cloud, so most fans would probably welcome his return. He’s certainly better than what they currently have, and would need no time to adapt to Conte’s ways either.
The only danger is he is now 30 and offers little in the way of being a future asset. But that might not concern Conte, who wants players to do the business right now.
Eriksen has shown his quality with Brentford this season and if he does go back to Spurs, you can almost guarantee he’ll be just as good as he ever was.
