Tottenham Hotspur are one of the sides who have sensed in recent transfer windows that Chelsea are wary of selling Conor Gallagher to them.

Conor Gallagher‘s future looks set to be one of the key talking points surrounding the Blues in the summer. The 23-year-old is now into the final 18 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea, of course, have invested heavily in their squad over the last few years. And thus, selling Gallagher may have to be considered to help bring Chelsea in line with Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Tottenham sense Chelsea are wary of selling Gallagher to them

Tottenham are one of the teams keen on signing the England international. The Athletic reports that it is well known across the Premier League that Gallagher is available for £50 million.

However, it seems that some sides may have to work harder than others to convince Chelsea to sell the academy graduate.

According to The Athletic, the likes of Tottenham and Newcastle have sensed that Chelsea are wary of selling Gallagher to them. As the report notes, it is an odd stance considering that they are seemingly open to letting him leave.

The Athletic adds that Gallagher has surprised Chelsea with his development. But if they have been backed into a corner financially, they are not in the strongest position. It is still possible that he could sign a new contract.

Spurs need to keep themselves in the mix

Tottenham would be smart to try and capitalise. Gallagher has impressed in the Premier League with Chelsea and Crystal Palace previously. He was even one of the few positives from a fairly miserable season for West Brom while he was on loan at the Hawthorns.

Gallagher is a ‘fantastic‘ talent who should only improve further in the years to come. So it would be a real coup if Tottenham could now find a way to convince Chelsea to sell him in the summer.
