Ally McCoist has reacted to reports that Chelsea may have to sell Conor Gallagher amid interest in the midfielder from Tottenham Hotspur heading into the summer.
Conor Gallagher has reminded everyone of his quality over the last couple of games. The 23-year-old has now scored three goals in his last two games, including two in Chelsea’s win over Crystal Palace on Monday night.
But there is more than a question mark over his future at Stamford Bridge. As reported by The Telegraph, Chelsea may be forced to sell Gallagher in the summer due to his contract entering its final 18 months.
Ally McCoist reacts to reports Conor Gallagher could be sold by Chelsea
Tottenham are already planning to make a move for Gallagher at the end of the season if he has not penned a new deal with the Blues. His asking price could be around the £35 million mark.

Ally McCoist was asked on talkSPORT (broadcast on 14/2; 09:01) about Chelsea having to sell Gallagher to help balance the books after their incredible spending over the last few years. And he suggested that he is not at all happy about the idea of the player being sold simply to satisfy the Profit and Sustainability Rules.
“Of course it is. It’s shocking. I get FFP and the restrictions and all clubs have to abide by it and adhere to it but there must be something wrong when there is an incentive when it’s far more financially beneficial for you to sell a homegrown player than anybody else to balance the books. That can’t be right. It sends out a really poor message, I don’t like it at all,” he said.
Tottenham right to look to capitalise
Tottenham will certainly not have any sympathy for Chelsea’s situation. Over the years, Spurs have stopped themselves getting carried away with their spending – much to the fans’ frustration at times.
They may well now have an opportunity to make some impressive moves in the market. Tottenham put many of their Premier League rivals to shame with the business they did in January.
So if Chelsea have to sell Gallagher, and Ange Postecoglou is a fan of the player, of course, they should look to capitalise.
Gallagher is an outstanding player with a very bright future ahead of him. And if Chelsea cannot afford to not sell him, then there is going to be a queue of clubs readying offers.
