Report: Tottenham have now made contact with £20m attacker who scored more than Lucas last season
Tottenham Hotspur have already made contact with Leeds United about the signing of Raphinha, according to a report from The Times.
Speculation about where Raphinha will end up is growing by the day at the moment. A whole host of clubs are keen, with Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Barcelona all said to have shown some interest at some point in recent weeks.
However, The Times has claimed that while no official bid has been made by anyone as yet, Tottenham and Barcelona are the two clubs who have made contact with Leeds about the deal. It’s claimed Leeds are wanting at least £50m to sell Raphinha, who once again excelled last season at Elland Road.
The Brazilian winger his 11 goals for the Whites, including a crucial final day strike to ensure Jesse Marsch’s side kept their Premier League status. For context, that is more than fellow South American winger Lucas, who only managed six overall for Spurs last term.
Raphinha, who has been praised for having ‘unbelievable’ ability, is said to be open to leaving Elland Road. He’s also said to favour playing Champions League football, something Tottenham can offer over Arsenal.
The Times states that Leeds paid just £20m to sign the Brazilian from Rennes.
TBR’s View: Can Tottenham Get Another Over Arsenal
Raphinha, Bissouma, Gabriel Jesus. It seems Spurs and Arsenal are shopping in the same outlet this summer when it comes to new recruits.
Of course, Spurs have already got Bissouma in and there is talk of a move for Jesus too. But if they can get Raphinha ahead of Arsenal, that would really be a crushing blow for Edu and co.
Raphinha fits right in with Arsenal and would clearly do well. But the lure of Conte, that CL football, and the idea of teaming up with Kane and Son could prove crucial.
