'Including Arsenal': Fabrizio Romano says Edu is ready to bring yet another South American to The Emirates

Arsenal are ‘back in the race’ to sign Leeds United winger, Raphinha, according to respected journalist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano.

Raphinha has been linked with a number of clubs this summer. After helping Leeds avoid relegation, the Brazilian star has been mentioned in regards to clubs like Tottenham, Barcelona, and of course, Arsenal. Indeed, reports this weekend had suggested that the Gunners were working on a deal to bring Raphinha to The Emirates, albeit it had complications.

And seemingly backing up those reports, Romano has taken to his Twitter account today to claim that Arsenal are one of the teams in the mix to sign Raphinha, with Barcelona’s interest cooling off somewhat.

Leeds are demanding a big sum for Raphinha to even consider selling him. Their survival means the pressure is off somewhat when it comes to players going out of Elland Road. Further, they are also expecting to sell Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City, a move which will bring in over £50m itself.

Raphinha has been a revelation at Elland Road since moving to the club from Rennes. His penalty on the final day of the season ensured Leeds were on their way to that much-needed three points.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have already signed Marquinhos this summer. He joins a strong South American contingent already at the club.

TBR’s View: Can Arsenal Convince Leeds To Sell Raphinha?

Arsenal have two problems when it comes to landing Raphinha. First, they must convince Leeds to sell him, whatever that price might be.

Secondly, Mikel Arteta must also show Raphinha that Champions League football is not the be-all and end-all. Missing out on the top four has had consequences for the Gunners, with Tottenham able to land the likes of Yves Bissouma ahead of them.

Of course, should Arsenal get Raphinha, then it’s a big signing. He improves the squad and XI instantly, and could even help them to usurp Spurs and Chelsea in next season’s Champions League push.
