Tottenham have now lost Rio Bromfield after Borussia Monchengladbach swooped in.

That is according to Gladbach Live.

So, what is the situation involving Rio Bromfield and Tottenham? Let’s take a look…

Tottenham lose Rio Bromfield

Well – according to Gladbach Live – the Germany U16 international will be playing his football for Borussia Monchengladbach next season after agreeing to leave Spurs.

Bromfield has seemingly decided to take his career down a more German route rather than commit to England.

The 16-year-old made his debut for the England U16 side back in November, but then switched to become a Germany U16 international that same month, winning two caps so far.

Now, Bromfield has decided to take his club career to Germany as well, rather than remain at Tottenham, where he has impressed in the youth ranks at left-back.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will regret losing the teenager, although many talents have left England to become stars in Germany – such as Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham – so Spurs could well rue this development.

Rio Bromfield may not have seen a pathway under Ange Postecoglou

If we were a young left-back at Tottenham, we’d probably think about leaving as well, given the presence of Destiny Udogie.

The Italy international has been outstanding in his debut campaign at Spurs, scoring two goals – while also providing three assists – in 21 Premier League appearances as he becomes one of the most exciting defenders in England.

Amazingly, the Tottenham No.38 – who Vicario called “absolutely brilliant” – is now worth even more than Jack Grealish.

Udogie is also – somehow – just 21 years of age, meaning he should hold that position down for the next decade if all goes well.

Therefore, a young left-back like Bromfield probably foresaw a difficult time in trying to get senior minutes under Postecoglou, ahead of the Italian speedster.
