Tottenham ended the window with the signing of Emerson Royal – but fans wished they had signed a striker like new Palace star Odsonne Edouard.

With Edouard, 23, entering the last 12 months of his contract at Celtic – Palace swooped on deadline day. They struck a £14million move to get him.

Sky Sports claim that while Palace have paid £14million to sign the striker, it could rise to a much larger £18.5million. Spurs lack cover for Harry Kane.

Of course, Carlos Vinicius returned to Benfica. Failing to earn a permanent Tottenham deal – despite scoring 10 goals in 22 Spurs outings.

Despite losing the Brazilian, and indeed Gareth Bale, Spurs have chosen not to sign another striker. That is, even with Kane’s future being up in the air.

Despite his form at Celtic dipping over the last 12 months, Edouard still leaves with stats of 86 goals and 39 assists in 179 games for the Hoops.

Even with his contract expiring, it is little surprise that Palace might end up paying the best part of £20million for the French star. Patrick Vieira is a fan.

The Daily Record claimed in the final days before the end of the window, that Spurs were actually considering a move for the ex-PSG talisman.

Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter after watching Edouard join Palace, and many believe that their club should have beaten Vieira to his signing.
