Tottenham fans urge club to sign Jose Mourinho superstar, amid reports Spurs are battling Liverpool
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to activate Lorenzo Pellegrini’s release clause this summer – but face competition from Liverpool. Roma skipper Pellegrini has starred over the past 12 months under incoming Paulo Fonseca – and Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports.
Roma skipper Pellegrini, 24, clocked up a whopping 47 appearances in all competitions for Roma during 2020-21. Under incoming Tottenham manager Paulo Fonseca, Pellegrini had a hand in 20 goals – scoring 11 and creating nine more. Now, he is attracting interest from the Premier League.
CalcioMercato state that while Pellegrini is in talks with Roma over a new contract – nothing has been agreed. It is claimed the two parties are struggling to come to an agreement and that has placed both Spurs and Liverpool on red alert. Both are willing to activate his £25million clause.
What are Tottenham fans saying about Pellegrini?
Spurs desperately need a long-term partner for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, one that they can constantly rely on. Hojbjerg is the defensive shield in the Spurs midfield and alongside him, they need a progressive midfielder that can take Tottenham from defence into attack. Gio Lo Celso is too attacking.
As is Tanguy Ndombele. Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko have gone off the boil and could leave Spurs themselves this summer. So, Spurs need a midfielder and with both Fabio Paratici and Fonseca coming in – Pellegrini looks the ideal option. Here is what Tottenham fans think.
