Tottenham fans should be excited about Ruslan Malinovskyi links - opinion
Tottenham Hotspur look set to be busy once again during the January transfer window, with reports over the weekend suggesting that Antonio Conte’s men are eyeing a cut-price move for Ruslan Malinovskyi.
Spurs have not been overly impressive during the opening months of the season. And yet, they find themselves in the top-four in the Premier League and through to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
So there is still the opportunity for Tottenham to do something special this term. And thankfully, the January transfer window is just around the corner.
Tottenham eyeing Malinovskyi
It would appear that Spurs plan to strengthen in the winter. And Football London reports that they are eyeing a move for Malinovskyi.
The Ukrainian has not had the best season with Atalanta. However, the notion that a move could take place should be incredibly exciting for Tottenham supporters.
He has provided 58 goal contributions in 142 games for the Serie A side. And at 29, he could be at the peak of his powers.
He has been more underwhelming this season. However, his contract situation opens the door for a real bargain with Football London reporting that his deal is up in the summer.
It would be more of a gamble to sign Malinovskyi when his contract has longer to run. But he is a player who can play almost anywhere across the midfield, as well as further forward.
Spurs need to do more in the window. Their new signings are yet to really ignite this season. And Malinovskyi’s arrival is not going to transform their performances on its own.
But given his experience and his quality, there are not many pieces of business which would represent better value.
So Tottenham fans should certainly be excited if a move becomes likely.
