Tottenham fans react on Twitter to Davinson Sanchez display vs Leeds

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Davinson Sanchez after his performance after coming on during their Premier League win over Leeds United on Sunday.

Sanchez was one of the players in contention to come into Antonio Conte’s side following the news that Cristian Romero would miss the fixture due to an injury sustained on international duty.

However, Conte opted for Japhet Tanganga ahead of the clash with Leeds. And it appeared that Tottenham were in for a nightmare afternoon.

Spurs trailed at half-time. And they were largely outplayed by the visitors in North London.

However, Tottenham responded superbly once they returned to the field. They equalised just before the hour-mark.

With 22 minutes remaining, Conte replaced Tanganga with Sanchez. Moments later, Sergio Reguilon had put Spurs in front.

Admittedly, the Colombian may not have been involved in the decisive goal. But many felt that he went on to make a really important impact over the remaining minutes of the game.

He won four aerial duels, according to Whoscored. Remarkably, no player could better his tally – despite Sanchez coming on midway through the second-half.

He also won two tackles, and made three interceptions.

Sanchez is a player who has come in for some criticism during his time with the club. And it had appeared that he was facing a battle to force his way into Conte’s plans.

But he has staked a claim for a starting spot for the weeks ahead.
