A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that Cristian Romero came off with an injury while on international duty with Argentina overnight.

It appeared as if Spurs were within touching distance of a hugely successful international break. The likes of Joe Rodon and Steven Bergwijn had produced performances that would have restored some of their confidence.

But just as victory over the fortnight looked assured for Antonio Conte’s men, Tottenham were denied with virtually the last kick of the game.

Romero had to be replaced after 53 minutes as Argentina played out a goalless draw with Brazil to ensure that they will be in Qatar next year.

Fabrizio Romano suggested on Twitter that he had a thigh injury. Tottenham now face a nervy wait to find out how serious any problem is.

The 23-year-old has the potential to have the Tottenham backline built around him. So not having him available for Sunday’s clash with Leeds, or any games after that, would be a big blow.
