Tottenham fans react as Patrick Vieira reportedly closes in on his first signing for Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace and Patrick Vieira are reportedly closing in on the first signing of the Frenchman’s era, in the form of Michael Olise. The Reading playmaker is a target for numerous Premier League clubs over the last 12 months. Palace are set to sign Olise, and Tottenham fans have had their say on Twitter.
Olise, still only 19, enjoyed a stunning campaign with Reading during 2020-21. Clocking up 46 appearances in all competitions for the Royals, Olise had a hand in 19 goals – scoring seven and creating 12 more. In the final year of his contract, reports claim that Olise has an £8million release clause.
The Sun report, among other media outlets, that Palace have activated the release clause and are closing in on adding Olise to their ranks. Palace are to undergo a summer overhaul under new gaffer Vieira – with at least 10 likely to leave on a free transfer. It is a move much like Ebere Eze’s.
What are Tottenham fans saying about Palace signing Olise?
Tottenham were keen on Eze at the time but Palace and Roy Hodgson won the race. The Athletic claimed in December that Tottenham were monitoring Reading star Olise. It looks as if London rivals Palace are set to beat Spurs to another Championship talent. A London-born one at that.
Tottenham fans have given their response on Twitter to the reports that Arsenal legend Vieira is set to sign Olise. Many have complimented Palace and Vieira for signing Olise and winning the race. Others, meanwhile, think it is frustrating to see him slip their clutches.
