Reported Leeds and Spurs target Michael Olise wins EFL Young Player award
Leeds United and Spurs will have been keeping a close eye on proceedings last night, as reported target Michael Olise cemented his potential.
Olise has been in superb form for Reading this season and he was rewarded for his fine form by winning the EFL Young Player of the Season award last night.
The 19-year-old midfielder has caught the eye of of many this season thanks to some glowing performances. Six goals and ten assists from midfield have underlined his potential as a star of a future. Indeed, those performances have caught the attention of onlooking Premier League clubs.
Leeds have registered their interest, both last summer and this year, although no deal came to fruition. Further, Spurs have also shown an interest in Olise, with the Athletic claiming back in December that Olise was firmly on their radar.
Reading are thought to value their man at around the £30m mark, per 90Min.com. That sort of fee is likely to ensure he remains in Berkshire for the time being at the very least. However, with the Royals out of the promotion picture, Olise could be tempted to push through a move should concrete interest emerge.
TBR View: Olise will be a Premier League player, Leeds and Spurs ideal destinations
Olise would surely thrive under Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road. Playing in the midfield area with license to go forward, the Reading star would give Leeds another dimension.
Spurs, meanwhile, is an environment with a number of young players already onboard. However, who the new manager is might well dictate just how the club moves forward.
But one thing is for sure with Olise, and that’s that he’ll be a Premier League footballer sooner, rather than later.
