Tottenham fans react as Manchester City star Sterling discusses his future

Manchester City star Raheem Sterling has admitted he could be open to leaving the club – and Tottenham fans have responded, urging a move.

Sterling, 26, has only started two of seven Premier League games under Pep Guardiola this season. His game time is beginning to become less and less.

That is largely down to the rise of Phil Foden, and the £100million record signing of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa. Sterling might need a move.

As per BBC Sport, Sterling said: “If there was the opportunity to go elsewhere, I would be open to it. Football is the most important thing.”

In the summer, Sterling was linked with the majority of England’s biggest sides and that included Tottenham. City, of course, wanted Harry Kane.

The England skipper never got his move to The Etihad, but Sterling was dangled as a potential carrot to sweeten a deal and tempt Daniel Levy.

That is according to The Athletic – who also say Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus, Joao Cancelo and Aymeric Laporte were also options in a deal.

What are Tottenham fans saying about Manchester City ace Sterling?

Kane remained, and so did Sterling. But currently at Spurs, Nuno Espirito Santo could do with another body – a leader, in the final third.

Lucas Moura is excellent, though inconsistent. Steven Bergwijn has been below par since his move to Tottenham from PSV Eindhoven.

Bryan Gil is still learning his trade and could eventually move into midfield. So, a right winger is needed and Sterling could provide that for Spurs.

Having teamed up with Kane for England over the years, the £300k-a-week (Spotrac) star’s comments have prompted Tottenham fans to react.
