Tottenham fans react as club reportedly eye Mourinho ace

Tottenham Hotspur and Fabio Paratici reportedly want to sign Roma defender Roger Ibanez – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter.

Ibanez, 22, only joined Roma on a permanent basis last summer – having spent the previous 18 months at Roma on loan from Serie A rivals Atalanta.

Since joining Roma in January 2020, the Brazilian has clocked up 57 appearances for the Serie A side. He can play right-back, and in midfield.

Tottenham have already brought Cristian Romero to the club during Paratici’s reign. But it is clear that Paratici still wants to bring in a defender.

CalcioMercato say Ibanez is on his radar. But he is a mainstay under Jose Mourinho, and the ex-Spurs gaffer will be keen to keep him.

What are Tottenham fans saying about Ibanez – Rodon future?

Given that Eric Dier is first choice and it is whether Romero or Davinson Sanchez partner the England international in the middle of the defence.

So, bringing in another central defender into that mix means Tottenham might have to get rid of a player to make room for the uncapped Brazilian.

So, if Spurs sign £8.5million Roma (Chiesa Di Totti) man Ibanez, then surely Nuno Espirito will make room. Joe Rodon is currently fourth choice.

Rodon could be sent on loan to get game time when Spurs make their move regarding Ibanez. Whether Mourinho will allow a move, is unlikely.
