Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly battling Aston Villa and other clubs for River Plate ace Junior Alvarez – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter.
Tottenham are keen on signing a new striker in the next couple of transfer windows. Carlos Vinicius left last summer, and was not replaced by Spurs.
Right now, Harry Kane is the only senior option – while youngster Dane Scarlett is the next best striker. Son Heung-min can play up top.
But Spurs need a new striker and CalcioMercato report they are looking at a move to sign Argentina international Alvarez – who is impressing at River.
However, Spurs are not the only club keen on signing the two-time Argentina star – with Villa, Dortmund and Leverkusen also keen on Alvarez.
The report states that Tottenham would have to spend £21.3million to sign the striker, thanks to his release clause. He has seven goals in 11 games.

What are Tottenham fans saying about River striker Alvarez?
He is something completely different to what Tottenham already have. Harry Kane is a proper no.9, Son Heung-min is a mercurial left winger.
Lucas Moura’s dribbling ability is second to none. But Alvarez is different to all of those, given his pocket-sized 5ft 6in height, but blistering speed.
That combination of a low centre of gravity and balance, and speed is twinned with goals and assists. He has four assists this season.
For little over £21million, he would be a bargain for Spurs – offering them another dimension. Tottenham fans have responded on Twitter.
