Tottenham fans react as club reportedly eye £4m bargain
Tottenham Hotspur are one of four Premier League clubs reportedly looking to raid Schalke and sign Matthew Hoppe. The USA talent has enjoyed a solid season in the Bundesliga, despite Schalke’s relegation. Now, Hoppe is available on the cheap and Tottenham fans have reacted.
Hoppe, 20, is the attacker that scored a hat-trick for Schalke to beat Hoffenheim 4-0 – in what was their first win of the 2020-21 campaign. That win came after the turn of the year on January 9, highlighting just how bad a season they had had. He netted six goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances.
But following Schalke’s relegation, they need to sell some players in order to balance the books. Hoppe is one of those who is likely to bring in some cash. 90Min report, though, that he will only cost £4million this summer. That has put Spurs on red alert, but they are not alone in the chase for his signature.
What are Tottenham fans saying about Hoppe?
Indeed, the report claims that Nuno Espirito Santo’s former side Wolves are also on Hoppe’s trail. Southampton are another option, a club that are currently seeing a number of their players being linked with Spurs in Jannik Vestergaard and Danny Ings. Newcastle could also sign Hoppe.
Now, Tottenham fans have given their verdict on the potential addition of Hoppe in the coming weeks and months. Spurs do need strikers, with Carlos Vinicius returning to Benfica after a decision was made on his loan. Many believe that Hoppe is a good addition for Spurs.
