Tottenham fans discuss reports that Antonio Conte wants to sign Eric Bailly

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want to raid Manchester United for defender Eric Bailly – and Spurs fans have responded on Twitter.

Bailly, 27, has only been afforded three appearances for United this season – clocking up just 225 minutes of action. Just 45 minutes in the league.

Spurs are expected to be busy in the January window, given Antonio Conte has been appointed. Fabio Paratici’s phone will already be ringing.

Transfer Window podcast Duncan Castles says Spurs have identified 41-time Ivory Coast international Bailly as an option.

Conte is said to want two central defenders and Bailly is an option for Spurs. Whether United are willing to part with him, remains to be seen.

“One of the individuals they’re in discussions about, as I understand it, is a Manchester United player, Bailly. He’s someone Conte likes,” Castles said.

What are Tottenham fans saying about a potential move for Bailly?

Tottenham do have options at centre-back. Eric Dier, Cristian Romero and Ben Davies are certainly first choice at the moment, in a back three.

Joe Rodon, Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez are also options. But Tottenham need better quality at the back and Bailly is an improvement.

But it depends on a price. Bailly does have a mistake in him, though his average performances are far above the likes of Sanchez or Dier.

If Spurs can agree a fee similar to the one that United spent to bring him to England, £30million (ESPN), then it is a good deal for all clubs involved.

Spurs get a good centre-back at a good price, United get their money back and Bailly gets game time. Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter.
