Report: Tottenham like the look of £60m Euro 2020 winner but could wait until next summer
Tottenham could make a move for Italian midfielder Nicolo Barella in the coming windows, albeit a deal this summer seems unlikely for now.
Italian outlet Il Messaggero claims Spurs are big fans of Barella and his Inter Milan teammate Milan Skriniar. However, while a deal for Skriniar could be done this summer if they meet the asking price, a move for Barella is more likely further down the road as things stand.
It’s claimed by Il Messaggero that Tottenham are big fans of Barella but as yet, no move has been made. Of course, Barella was one of Conte’s key men as Inter won the Scudetto under the now Spurs boss, and it’s been claimed previously Conte would have wanted Barella at PSG had he moved to the French outfit.
Tottenham beat Rangers in a pre-season friendly today and have already spent around £100m this summer on new signings. However, they’re expected to push for more new players as Fabio Paratici ramps up his efforts in the coming weeks.
Barella, who won Euro 2020 with Italy and was a key player, would represent an icing on the cake type signing for the North London outfit.
TBR’s View: Barella Would Be The World Class Midfielder Tottenham Have Wanted
Spurs have moved to sign Yves Bissouma and that’s a good deal for the club but if they could get a midfielder like Barella through the door then things would ramp up a notch.
Barella is a world class operator who would improve most teams in the world, never mind Tottenham. Of course, the fee would likely be a huge one for Spurs to pay, but they might see it as being worth it.
Spurs moving for Barella is more likely in a few windows’ time. But rest assured, if there is an opening for Paratici to do a deal here, you can bet your last dollar he’ll strike.
