Tottenham may be closing in on a striker signing 12 months on from selling Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.
Spurs have struggled to replace Kane for the longest time, but now, they appear to be getting closer and closer to getting a deal done for Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.
A fee has reportedly now been agreed with Bournemouth, and Spurs seem to be close to getting this deal done.
However, as we all ought to know by now, nothing is ever that straightforward with Tottenham.
Indeed, as we’ve seen happen time and time again with Spurs with the likes of Luis Diaz and Conor Gallagher, a deal could fall through, but, luckily, Spurs do have a plan B in mind for if they can’t get Solanke.

Tottenham still have concrete interest in Ivan Toney
According to Ben Jacobs, Tottenham retain a concrete interest in Ivan Toney and could revisit this move if the Dominic Solanke deal falls through.
A move for Solanke appears to be going ahead with terms and a fee agreed, but, if there’s any club that seems destined for a late hiccup, it’s Tottenham.
Luckily, Spurs do have a secondary plan in place, and it’s not a bad plan at all.
Ivan Toney may be better than Dominic Solanke
There’s a real argument to make that Tottenham would be getting a better player if they went for Toney ahead of Solanke.
Indeed, Toney is proven over a longer period at the top level, and he was picked ahead of Solanke for England at the Euros this summer.
There’s a reason Toney has been described as a ‘world class’ player, he’s a striker who has it all, and given his respective age and contract status, he may even end up being cheaper than Solanke.
Whether it’s Toney or Solanke, Tottenham look like they will end up with a new quality striker through the door this summer.
