Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of signing Dominic Solanke.

The North Londoners have been on the market for a new striker since the transfer window opened. Ange Postecoglou really wants a new man to lead his line in the 2023/24 season.

Spurs have been linked with a number of names over the last few months, but Solanke emerged as a key target for Tottenham not too long ago.

Duncan Castles revealed on Friday morning that Tottenham and Bournemouth have agreed a deal for Solanke.

Now, Ornstein has shared an update.

David Ornstein says Dominic Solanke has agreed personal terms with Tottenham

Solanke has been on the radar of several top clubs.

The Englishman had an excellent 2023/24 season in the Premier League, scoring 19 goals – only Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak managed more.

After a magnificent campaign, it was expected that Solanke would be of interest, and Tottenham have been exploring a move to sign him for a few weeks.

Now, a deal has been struck between Spurs and Bournemouth for the transfer of Solanke for a club-record fee, and that is great news for the North Londoners.

Furthermore, Ornstein has revealed on X that ‘personal terms’ have been agreed between the player and Tottenham.

The Athletic journalist has also revealed that Solanke is ‘desperate’ to leave Bournemouth and move to Spurs now.

Ornstein tweeted: “Bournemouth have agreed to sell Dominic Solanke for a club-record fee & talks with Tottenham Hotspur continue to finalise the transfer.

“Personal terms are in place and the 26-year-old striker is desperate to complete his move from Bournemouth to Tottenham.”

Solanke has been compared to one former Tottenham star

Tottenham bravely decided against signing a replacement for Harry Kane after he left the club.

Postecoglou handed the responsibility of playing up top to Heung-min Son and Richarlison, and both players did as well as they could.

However, it was evident for everyone to see in the 2023/24 season that Spurs lacked an out-and-out number nine – one similar to Kane.

Now, Tottenham may have finally found their replacement in Solanke, who has been likened to Kane.

Charlie Daniels said about Solanke in January 2024: “Dom combines the role of a No 9 and a No 10, a bit like Harry (Kane) does.

“He wants to stretch the game in behind but can also receive it to feet. His movement’s the same as Harry’s and they’ve the same intelligence.

“They both hold the ball up, they’re quite strong. Harry’s a more natural finisher but you can see the similarities.”
