Tottenham could sign ‘unbelievable’ player for an initial £45m

Conor Gallagher continues to be linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Chelsea star is reportedly a player that Spurs really admire, but, this deal isn’t proving to be easy to do.

Indeed, there have been reports that Chelsea are looking for big money for Gallagher, but according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on The Done Deal Show, this transfer could be done for a fairly reasonable fee.

Jacobs says that a bid of an initial £45m plus add-ons could turn Chelsea’s head.

£45m could secure Gallagher

Jacobs shared what he knows about the ‘unbelievable’ player.

“Tottenham tried for Gallagher on deadline day but the package was a maximum of £35m and Chelsea wanted £10m more, now I think that Chelsea want £15-20m more. I’m told that £45m guaranteed plus bonuses is the type of offer depending on structure that might turn Chelsea’s head,”

Still expensive

While £45m for Gallagher doesn’t sound like a bad price for a player of his age and quality, we could understand if Spurs did have some reservations about paying this sort of money.

Gallagher is entering the final 18 months of his contract, and usually, in this sort of situation, you get a decent discount on any potential transfer.

However, in this case, Gallagher isn’t exactly available for a bargain fee, and there’s a feeling that if Spurs do wait this one out, that asking price will only drop further.

Of course, £45m for a 23-year-old England international is never a terrible deal, but it’s not the bargain of the century either, so Spurs may want to weigh up all of the pros and cons of making this move at this sort of time.

Whether or not Tottenham do make a move for Gallagher remains to be seen, but, in our view, they may be best off waiting until the summer and re-assessing the situation then.
