Tottenham have been reportedly offered the chance to sign Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva in a deal involving Harry Kane this summer. Spurs fans will be desperate for their club to sign Silva, given that Guardiola believes the Portugal international is ‘”back” to his best.

Silva, 26, has been an underrated part of Manchester City’s marauding, all-conquering team that has won three of the past four league titles. He has been present for all four seasons, clocking up 202 appearances – being involved in 79 goals. But Guardiola has stated he wants to leave the club.

The Mail now claims City are willing to throw in Silva alongside £130million, to sign England skipper Kane. Tottenham fans might be all for such a move when they hear what Guardiola has previously said about the ex-Monaco and Benfica ace. Guardiola thinks he is “back to his best”.

“What a player is all I can say,” Guardiola told the club’s website in February. “Everything he does, he does incredibly well. The year we won a second Premier League title in a row, he was unstoppable. Now he is back. “He’s a lovely person. As a manager you love to have players like Bernardo.”

Silva ideal for Tottenham, just what Spurs need – amid Guardiola claim

Tottenham have brought in Pierluigi Gollini as cover for Hugo Lloris, a move that will bring the best out of the Frenchman – or replace him. Cristian Romero is a stunning addition at centre-back. Bryan Gil is an exciting talent, and Spurs are also offloading their expensive dead wood.

But they still need additions. They could do with another midfielder to go alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – with Tanguy Ndombele struggling. Silva can also provide cover on the flanks or in the 10 role – crucial given Gareth Bale has left. Tottenham have got to sign the £43million man (Sky Sports).
