Report: Tottenham are now confident they're going to sign 'unbelievable' player this week with move imminent
Tottenham Hotspur are growing confident they can land Wolves winger Adama Traore this week, with reports suggesting a deal could be imminent.
According to The Athletic, Tottenham are feeling that a deal for Traore is getting closer. It comes amid reports from multiple sources this weekend which suggested a deal between £18-20m was on the cards. Traore played for Wolves this weekend against Sheffield United.
Tottenham are said to be keen on landing a new right wing-back in January. Emerson Royal has failed to impress Antonio Conte, while Matt Doherty could be moved on. Football.London have backed up The Athletic’s claim, and they suggest that Traore could even be used to fill in for Heung-Min Son in the initial weeks.
Traore’s value has dipped considerably in recent times. At one point, Wolves were said to be asking for over £70m for the Spaniard. However, now that he’s into the final 18 months of his deal, Wolves are willing to accept far less.
Tottenham’s miserable showing against Morecambe yesterday is likely to have prompted Conte to push the Spurs board to act quickly. Traore, then, could well arrive in the coming week.
TBR’s View: Will Tottenham Finally Get Adama Traore? Hopefully For Conte!
This seems to have been rumbling on and on for some time now. But finally, it seems like Traore is going to get his move to Tottenham. He probably needs the change too.
While he’s impressed at Wolves at times – Jack Grealish called him unbelievable in the past – he has also gone a tad stale. Bruno Lage also seems open to allowing the winger to go, so that suggests a mutual feeling.
At Tottenham, Conte will be hoping to get the very best from Traore. If he can unlock his true potential, then Spurs could have a game-changer on their hands.
