If you are a Tottenham fan at the moment, then there is no doubt an air of excitement about just what might to be come under the guidance of Antonio Conte.

Despite the obvious inconsistencies on display with this Spurs squad at times, things have turned a bit of a corner of late as Conte’s men look more assured under the Italian. Silly mistakes are slowly being ironed out, while players they need on song like Kane, Son, and Romero are all playing well. Certainly, it seems Conte has got more of a tune out of this team in recent months.

Tottenham remain firmly in the mix to land a top four spot. However, there is also an acceptance that to make the jump to the next level, Fabio Paratici and Conte need to work together to bring in top, top players. We’ve already seen the impact Kulusevski and Bentancur have had, so the next few signings need to follow suit.

And Conte, to his credit, could be about to land a real superstar in the form of Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan.

Conte Playing The Waiting Game With Martinez For Tottenham

As reported on TBR yesterday, it was claimed by Tuttomercatoweb in Italy that Conte is actually hoping that Inter Milan sign Paulo Dybala so he can make his move for Martinez.

Of course, Conte worked with Martinez before and knows how to get the striker ticking. A player labelled spectacular by a certain Lionel Messi, there is certainly plenty to like about Martinez. Under Conte, the Argentinian striker scored an impressive 40 goals in 97 games (Transfermarkt). Those sorts of numbers aren’t to be sniffed at.

Tottenham do have talent in the squad at the moment. They could even make the top four. But going beyond that – of which the next step is to usurp Chelsea in third – will need players with big reputations and proven records to sign.

Lautaro Martinez fits the bill for Tottenham. Indeed, it could even be the sort of signing that keeps Harry Kane around longer.

In addition, Martinez has admitted in the past how grateful he is to Conte for his help and guidance. Surely, then, the striker wouldn’t pass up the chance of a reunion if the opportunity arose? And if it does, then Chelsea and Tuchel – as well as Arsenal – will need to sit up and take notice.
