Tottenham’s search for a new defender has now brought them to consider making a move for Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio.

The impressive Inacio is a marked man in Europe at the moment and is being tracked by a number of Premier League clubs.

Liverpool are thought to be really keen on signing Inacio. The defender has a £51m release-clause in his contract and could well be in England before long.

Arsenal are also keen, while we’ve already heard of interest from Spurs as well.

And according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Tottenham are indeed discussing the signing of Inacio, albeit there is a bit of an issue with the price.

Tottenham put off by Goncalo Inacio price

Taking to his social media account over on X, journalist Jacobs has spoken of Inacio and Spurs, but believes the price tag could be the problem for Spurs.

Inacio is one of the most in-demand players in Europe at the moment and it very much looks like it’s going to be a case of who pays the money first.

Right now, Tottenham are desperate for a new defender and while it is big money, it might be money well spent.

Inacio will have the pick of Europe

It looks like there’s going to be a battle and a half to land Inacio and we can’t wait to see which Premier League team does win the race.

When you look at Tottenham, it would make sense for them to spend the money on Inacio if they do have it.

Jacobs says spending might be limited but we saw when Cristian Romero signed that the best defenders cost big money and the same might happen here with Inacio.

Spurs need that defender in January. Yes, they have to make sure they get the right player in the door as well, but if there’s a chance for Inacio, then surely they take it.
