Tottenham are still considering signing ‘one of the top 10 players in Europe’

Tottenham still need to sign a new striker.

Indeed, after selling Harry Kane last summer, Spurs still haven’t signed that much-needed replacement for the England captain.

With the transfer window open, all eyes are on Spurs and any movement on the striker front, and there has been plenty of speculation about what Ange Postecoglou’s side are going to do.

The likes of Ivan Toney have been linked with a move to Spurs, while Santiago Gimenez is a player Spurs have been keen on for a long time.

Gimenez has been linked to Tottenham for almost a year now, and while things have gone quiet on that front as of late, it sounds as though that interest hasn’t subsided.

Tottenham still interested in Santiago Gimenez

According to TuttoJuve, Tottenham are still interested in signing Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord.

The Mexican striker has been banging in the goals in the Eredivisie, and he’s seen as a top talent.

In fact, the forward has been described by his agent as ‘one of the top 10 players in Europe’, and while that may be a bit of healthy hyperbole, from an agent trying to hype up his player, Gimenez has the makings of a fantastic striker.

He’s been scoring for fun over in the Netherlands, but, as Spurs ought to know, shopping in the Eredivisie can be a serious risk.

Santiago Gimenez would be a risk

It’s almost a tale as old as time.

Eredivisie strikers coming over to the Premier League and flopping is a regular occurance, and Spurs know first-hand what it’s like to have a player in this mould.

Vincent Janssen was the most dangerous striker in the Eredivisie, but upon joining Spurs, the goals dried up.

The reality is that playing in the Premier League is a much tougher task, and it’s not easy for players to make this adjustment.

Gimenez could be a fantastic signing, but he would be a serious gamble.
