Todd Boehly sold a player for just £18m at Chelsea who’s playing like Gareth Bale

Todd Boehly has done his fair share of buying and selling since his involvement with Chelsea began, but one player he sold is currently thriving elsewhere.

Just this past summer alone Chelsea spent £296.5million on players in a bid to strengthen the squad to be competitive on all fronts.

Enzo Maresca has brought in a plethora of players, particularly in an attacking sense, which has also led to plenty of outgoings as well.

While some of the ex-players have struggled to make any impact away from Stamford Bridge, there are others who are making Chelsea rue their decision.

Christian Pulisic is playing like Gareth Bale for AC Milan

Christian Pulisic was a marquee signing for Chelsea back in 2019, as the club spent £58million on bringing him to the Premier League.

During his time at the club he managed to make 145 appearances, scoring 26 and providing 21 assists as he showed glimpses of his quality.

He was a key part of the Chelsea squad which won the 2020-21 Champions League, as he scored against Real Madrid in the semi final of the competition.

Unfortunately, a combination of injury problems and a lack of consistency led to Pulisic being sold to AC Milan in 2023 for just £18million, but right now he is delivering some excellent performances.

The American forward is flying this season with his contributions in the final third, and his most recent performance against Napoli saw him pick up a goal and an assist.

Pulisic’s assist drew comparisons to Gareth Bale due to the way he beat his player and drove the ball the entire length of a half before delivering his cross, which is the type of player Chelsea desperately need.

Christian Pulisic wishes he had more opportunities at Chelsea

Pulisic was often in and out of the team during his spell at Chelsea, and the lack of a consistent run stopped him from building the momentum that he wanted.

After leaving the Blues, Pulisic spoke to ESPN about what he wished he could have done differently at Stamford Bridge, while looking ahead to his time at AC Milan.

“Of course there are definitely times where I wish I could’ve gotten more of an opportunity and been that guy, but yeah, for whatever reason, that’s not the case.

“Like I said, I’m just so excited for this new challenge and I’m definitely ready and up for it.”

However, given the success that Pulisic is having, and the quality he is showcasing, his sale is something that Chelsea might now regret.

The Blues have spent a lot of money on wingers in the past couple of seasons, and none have managed to provide the consistent level of goal contributions that Pulisic is doing this season.
