Harry Kane “needs to be” at a club like Manchester City or Liverpool, according to Optus Sport pundit Thomas Sorensen.

City and Liverpool have been the Premier League’s top two sides in recent years.

Pep Guardiola’s charges have won three of the last four titles, with Jurgen Klopp’s Reds triumphing in 2020.

In addition, Liverpool also won the Champions League in 2019, overcoming Kane’s Tottenham in the final.

Since then, Spurs have stagnated following several seasons of title challenges and that Champions League final.

Kane has been linked with a move away this summer after another underwhelming campaign for his club.

He failed to turn up to Spurs’ training ground as expected early last week.

However, Kane later insisted he had not refused to train in a strongly-worded statement.

Could Kane head to Manchester City or Liverpool this summer?

Sorensen, speaking on Optus Sport, is adamant the £200,000-a-week star really needs to up sticks.

“He also knows he is at a stage of his career, his peak, where if he needs to win things, he has to leave Spurs,” Sorensen said.

“They are not going to win anything – maybe potentially the League Cup – for the next couple of years at least. His time is running out.

“He needs to be at a Manchester City, at a top European club, Liverpool, Manchester United potentially, who are on the up. Not Spurs.

“I probably would’ve done the same, (especially) if that (gentleman’s agreement) was in place.

“He has done his bit for Spurs, been there through the bad times as well.

“He has shown loyalty, been a club person, and you have to show some loyalty in return if the money comes in.

“That is too big an offer.”
