'Remember who his agent is': Sky Sports specialist has more bad news for Arsenal and Chelsea

Sky Sports’ South American football expert, Tim Vickery, has cast fresh doubt on Raphinha’s potential move to Arsenal or Chelsea.

The ‘unbelievable‘ Brazilian has been tracked by Arsenal all summer long but Chelsea have also entered the race recently and were believed to be close to doing a deal just last week. However, Barcelona are still there in the background and it’s been widely reported that Raphinha has a preference to go there.

And according to Vickery, that is exactly what Raphinha is waiting for which, in turn, is causing a delay for the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal.

“I think the one he wants is Barcelona – that’s the one he’s waiting on and that’s why there’s a delay here. He’s waiting to see if Barcelona can get their finances together to pull this one off,” Vickery told Sky Sports News.

“If you’re a Brazilian, it’s almost impossible to say no to Barcelona, especially, coincidentally, if your name starts with an R. What a line of players he’d be putting himself in if he can go to Barcelona. Remember who his agent is – Deco, who didn’t enjoy his time in London on or off the field. He told the Brazilian media at the time that he thought London was a city to visit and not a city to live in. So Raphinha has also got Deco in his ear saying he loved Barcelona and didn’t like London so much.”

TBR’s View: All Signs Point To Barcelona For Raphinha

Vickery’s comments fit well here with what was reported last night from Spain. Barca president Joan Laporta spoke of Raphinha and insisted the winger wants to sign for Barca.

And as time ticks by, you’d have to say it’s looking more and more that is the case. This is a frustrating one for Chelsea and Arsenal. Even if they do land Raphinha, there’ll be a feeling that they’ve got a player who doesn’t actually want to be there.

This week could be crucial for this deal and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see both English teams walk away.
