Kieran Tierney has sent a goodbye message to Calum Chambers after it was announced that the Englishman had joined Aston Villa on a permanent deal.

Most transfers these days are made known to fans by the media weeks before they actually happen. Chambers’ move yesterday surprised everyone, even the journalists who often have all the information.

Aston Villa noticed that the versatile Englishman had just six months left on his contract and they swooped in to get a deal done – swiftly and quietly.

Arsenal fans don’t really know what to make of the move now that it happened so quickly, but Tierney has claimed that he’s sad to see Chambers go.

Chambers was the longest-serving player in Arsenal’s squad until he left last night.

The Englishman was signed by Arsene Wenger from Southampton when he was just 19. He has now left the Gunners after over seven-and-a-half years to make a career of his own elsewhere.

Tierney, like many others at Arsenal, is sad to see him go.

The Scot took to Instagram to send a message to Chambers that read: “One of the good guys. Sad to see you go bro. All the best”

Great signing for Villa

Selling Chambers could prove to be a silly move by Arsenal. The Gunners don’t have a lot of cover in defence at the moment and injuries to a couple of their key players at the back could leave them really short.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, will not care. Chambers may not start every game under Steven Gerrard right away, but he will give the Villa boss a ton of options.

The Englishman can play at right-back, centre-half and also in defensive midfield.

That sort of versatility is a huge bonus for managers to have at their disposal, and under Gerrard, Chambers could become a much better player than he has been at Arsenal over the last seven years.
