Arsenal finished the 2020/21 Premier League campaign with a flourish, although it wasn’t enough to earn them a place in Europe.
The Gunners finished in eighth place in the Premier League, leaving Mikel Arteta with plenty to ponder this summer.
Some feel that the club has underachieved. Arteta himself will know that a club like Arsenal not playing in Europe simply isn’t good enough.
After a below-par campaign, we looked at three Arsenal players who can hold their head high, despite a season of relative struggle for the Gunners.
Emile Smith Rowe
The youngster didn’t actually play his first Premier League game of the season until Boxing Day.
He starred in a win over Chelsea and didn’t look back afterwards.

The 20-year-old finished the season with seven goals and seven assists, capturing the hearts of supporters with some quality performances.
Smith Rowe looks like being a big star in the future and he looks set to remain a mainstay next season.
Kieran Tierney
The 23-year-old did miss some games through injury but ultimately he was still one of Arsenal’s best players.
He finished the season with 38 appearances to his name and looks very much like becoming a future captain of the club.
Tierney earns £80,000-a-week at the Gunners and will head to Euro 2020 full of confidence.
Arsenal are extremely fortunate to have the Scotland international and he continues to light up the Emirates Stadium.
Alexandre Lacazette
The Frenchman was perhaps Arsenal’s surprise package during the 2020/21 campaign.
He was linked with a move away from the Gunners prior to the campaign but finished it as the club’s top goalscorer.

Lacazette bagged 17 goals and was often utilised as Arteta’s main man in attack.
What the future holds remains to be seen but should he earn a contract extension, it would be thoroughly deserved.
