Three Arsenal players that could leave in January, including 22-year-old defender

Arsenal could be about to new manager Mikel Arteta some money to spend in the January transfer window, but there could be some players to leave the club in the January transfer window – and here are the three most likely players.

Granit Xhaka

Xhaka is expected to leave north London, even though he has been brought back into the side under interim manager Freddie Ljungberg. The former Borussia Monchengladbach ace, though, was stripped of his captaincy earlier in the season.

He pulled a strop after criticism from the Emirates fans. Though the Swiss ace was subjected to harsh social media abuse from Gunners fans, he has no place in north London and is likely to move should an opportunity arise. Newcastle are keen, as per The Times.

Konstantinos Mavropanos

Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in signing the 22-year-old Arsenal defender, who has been afforded just one senior Gunners outing despite the north London club’s dismal record in defence this season.

Greek outlet claim Sporttime Forest are rivalling Arsenal’s Europa League last 32 opponents Olympiacos to sign the uncapped defender on loan until the summer. Arsenal fans, though, are keen for him to go permanently.

Lucas Torreira

Last but not least likely to leave, Uruguay international Torreira is becoming increasingly disillusioned with his time at The Emirates, after being moved into a different position under Unai Emery – and being overlooked at times.

Napoli are keen and according to Gazetta Dello Sport, Gennaro Gattuso’s side are preparing a £25 million loan-to-buy deal to sign Torreira – and bring him back to the Serie A just 18 months after he left Sampdoria.
