Although not plagued by injuries this season, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal team have coped through some important absences.

Injuries to William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu turned out to be too big to overcome towards the tail end of last campaign, derailing a season-long title charge.

And with the latter suffering with injuries again, Mikel Arteta now needs his full complement of players if Arsenal are to compete across all fronts.

The club are widely expected to be quiet in the January transfer window, meaning a recent update from The Standard could prove very timely.

Sharing their report today, the outlet claims that all of Tomiyasu, Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny could be available for Arsenal at the start of January.

Arteta’s team have a FA Cup tie against Liverpool on January 7th, an important date for the diary.

And with Elneny and Partey scheduled to compete at the African Cup of Nations, and Tomiyasu set for the Asian Cup, Arsenal fans will be pleased if they do return beforehand.

It’s certainly not ideal that the newly-returned trio would then be going away from Arsenal’s point of view, but they could then return sharper for February.

Arsenal trio could soon return to Mikel Arteta’s squad after injuries

Perhaps Thomas Partey’s return will be the most transformative for Arsenal’s squad as they reach the business end of the season.

Arteta has had to cope through several of Partey’s injuries at Arsenal, a player who would be vital.

Partey arguably has a skill set as good as Declan Rice’s, but he isn’t able to show it often enough.

Of course, that has naturally led to the idea that Partey could leave Arsenal in the near future.

One European club are said to be desperate to sign Partey in January, and it would be interesting to see Arsenal’s position if so.

Fans may imagine that Arsenal would prefer to do any business in the summer, avoiding mid-season disruption.

However, an approach could present an opportunity, perhaps a Douglas Luiz sized one.

That being said, Arsenal have already been warned away from any deal for the Aston Villa man.
