As we approach the January transfer window, Gabriel Agbonlahor thinks Arsenal will be wasting their time pursuing one target.
On the whole, Mikel Arteta’s team are expected to be quiet in January, a side who prefer to do their business in the summer.

However, that was also the case last season when Arsenal ended up making three important January additions.
That being said, Arsenal are definitely still ones to watch ahead of the New Year.
And with one ambitious target in mind, Gabriel Agbonlahor simply thinks Arsenal should be looking elsewhere in January.
The pundit was referring to Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, a player Arsenal are said to have admired for some time.
And when speaking about Villa’s position on any potential sale in January, Agbonlahor thought Arsenal may now be disappointed.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor said: “The difference now to when I was playing under Martin O’Neill is that everyone was up for sale.
“Look at how we lost, it was Gareth Barry, it was Milner, it was Young, it was Downing. Then it was Benteke and Delph.
“Now it’s not like that, Jack Grealish had a release clause so it was different but Watkins is not for sale. Douglas Luiz, not for sale. Arsenal, go somewhere else.
“They have multi billion pound owners mate, we don’t need that money. The club is settled and I just think something special is happening at Aston Villa.”
Gabriel Agbonlahor thinks Arsenal are wasting time with January Douglas Luiz pursuit
Perhaps this interest perfectly delineates why Arsenal would probably prefer to conduct their business in the summer.
Luiz isn’t going to be cheap in any window, he’s a player of the highest quality.

However, Unai Emery would surely be much more willing to consider a sale when he has ample time to find a replacement.
Even then, it would probably require Luiz to push for a move, Villa simply aren’t a selling club anymore.
Agbonlahor is correct in saying that Arsenal would be much better advised to look elsewhere in January.
And it perhaps seems as if the club should avoid the window as a whole.
Unless any quick fixes are needed, it would seem sensible for Arsenal to wait and potentially pursue a clever £85m signing in the summer.
