Thomas Frank could actually unlock Xavi Simons’ best form by starting £15m Tottenham star vs Brighton

It’s been a mixed start to life at Tottenham Hotspur for Xavi Simons, who’s shown some flashes of brilliance, but also left supporters wanting just a little bit more.

Tottenham signed Simons for £52m in one of the most exciting Premier League transfers during the summer window.

Simons assisted Pape Matar Sarr on his debut and has shown signs that he could well be the exciting attacker Spurs have needed for quite some time.

Frank has been playing Simons at left wing, which has left supporters questioning whether the Dutch international is actually being wasted in a wide role.

But Spurs’ new coach could help unlock his best form in that role by bringing a new player into the team for Tottenham’s trip to face Brighton on the weekend.

Thomas Frank should start Destiny Udogie vs Brighton

Thomas Frank should start Destiny Udogie against Brighton and Hove Albion on the weekend in a move which could help Xavi Simons.

After Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Villarreal, Frank admitted Simons and Spence lacked cohesion down the left side for the North London club.

Typically, Spence is a full-back who likes to invert and take up more central roles on the pitch, whilst going down the line, he is not quite so effective at doing so.

Meanwhile, Udogie certainly is a player who enjoys marauding down the left flank and looks to hug the touchline as much as possible.

The Italian could complement Simons nicely, as Udogie hugging the touchline could allow the Dutch forward to take up more central positions, where he seems to operate best.

Udogie, who cost Tottenham £15m, has been working his way back into the team following another spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The 22-year-old came off the bench against Villarreal and should now be pushing Spence for his spot in the team.

Pedro Porro the most underrated full-back in the Premier League

Meanwhile, on the other flank, Pedro Porro looks to have the right side on lock and is quickly becoming the most underrated full-back in the Premier League.

The Spaniard’s stats from this season are quite impressive as he leads the way in several categories among other Premier League full-backs.

Porro is often criticised for the defensive side of his game, yet he leads the way for duels won and possession won.

The defender’s ability to create is also so good, with the most crosses and passes into the penalty box.
