Thierry Henry is one of the greatest players to grace the Premier League, but he has also played alongside some of the best to play the game, too.
Whether it was in his early days at Arsenal, with a side that helped Arsene Wenger end a reign of dominance from Manchester United, or his part played in the great Barcelona teams in recent history, the Frenchman found a way into them.
Reflecting on a career like that, it can be tough to pick out some favourite teammates.
So, that’s exactly what Thierry Henry didn’t do when previously asked to pick his dream five-a-side team.

Thierry Henry snubbed former teammates when picking dream five-a-side team
For many stars, being asked to pick a dream five-a-side team can be problematic.
Choosing one player and snubbing another may reflect badly on them, even though it wasn’t the intention.
Because of how many quality players Henry had alongside him, he opted for a different route with his dream five-a-side.
Instead of picking those he played alongside, he picked some legends he thought would make an ideal team.
Speaking on Jamie Carragher’s podcast, The Greatest Game, back in 2019, he said: “I would say Pele, [Diego] Maradona, [Johan] Cruyff, [Franz] Beckenbauer… and Michael Laudrup should be there.”
Henry was keen to avoid picking between his former teammates, but that left out some big names as a result.
Lionel Messi, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira and Robert Pires were just a few who didn’t make it in due to that decision.
It’s unclear exactly who the former Arsenal man would pick if given the option for just his teammates, but it would be a side to rival any great team, that is for sure.

Thierry Henry’s top five teammates based on appearances together
While Henry may not have been able to pick through his old teammates, there are plenty of different ways to measure exactly who he played with the most.
The top five include just Arsenal stars, as well as those who also featured for the French national team with him.
| Position | Teammate | Appearances | Joint-goal participation |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Patrick Vieira | 313 | 21 |
| 2 | Robert Pires | 287 | 41 |
| 3 | Freddie Ljungberg | 246 | 36 |
| 4 | Dennis Bergkamp | 216 | 20 |
| 5 | Lauren | 208 | 4 |
Patrick Vieira remains the top, having played 313 times together, across Arsenal, France and France under-21s teams.
Robert Pires, Freddie Ljungberg, Dennis Bergkamp, and Lauren all follow, ahead of even bigger names such as Messi.
