Leeds United were heavily linked with a move for Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher in the summer, but the 21-year-old picked Crystal Palace instead.
TeamTalk revealed back in July that Gallagher was Marcelo Bielsa’s prime summer target. The youngster even visited Leeds’ training ground in West Yorkshire and a season-long loan move looked imminent.
However, just before Leeds could wrap up the deal, Gallagher decided to pick Crystal Palace instead. He rejected Bielsa’s side and moved to Selhurst Park, and he was absolutely phenomenal for them last night.
The Chelsea youngster started against Brighton yesterday and he was heavily involved. He impressed many people who were watching the game, including Premier League legend Thierry Henry.
Thierry Henry: Conor Gallagher was outstanding
Asked what he liked about Gallagher’s game against Brighton, the Frenchman said on Sky Sports, as per The Metro: “Everything!
“The way he puts pressure, the way he makes his team play, he makes the box. He has an eye for a goal at the minute. He’s way higher than when he used to play for West Brom on loan from Chelsea.

“I think he’s a player that loves to be unleashed, so let him go, let him go and put pressure, let him go and play, let him go and tackle. I thought he was outstanding.”
Henry’s right, Gallagher was outstanding for Palace against Brighton last night. He has much more freedom under Patrick Vieira now than he did under Sam Allardyce at West Brom last season, which should bring the best out of him.
Leeds were gutted to miss out on him in the summer and his performance last night showed why Bielsa really wanted him. He would’ve been brilliant at Elland Road, but the Whites’ loss is Palace’s gain, and Eagles fans are absolutely loving him.
