Conor Gallagher may well turn out to be the one that got away from Leeds United.

A frustrating miss?

Just two months after snubbing a move to Elland Road in favour of Crystal Palace (TeamTalk), the midfielder continues to earn rave reviews.

Gallagher already has scored twice for Palace since signing and he played a starring role as they beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 at the weekend.

Palace boss Patrick Vieira then waxed lyrical about the midfielder to the BBC after the game.

He said: “He loves being on the field. He’s got a lot of energy and I think he would play under any manager because of the passion he has for the game.

“I think the energy he is bringing is fantastic.”

Frustrating words

Those comments may make it even more frustrating for Leeds that they didn’t sign Gallagher.

Andrea Radrizzani suggested that Leeds didn’t sign a new midfielder because Adam Forshaw was returning to fitness.

However, Marcelo Bielsa clearly felt that Gallagher would have been a good addition in the area.

Leeds’ need for added quality in the centre of the pitch has already been clear this season too.

While it is far from time to panic, Leeds have failed to pick up a victory in any of their first four Premier League games.

And if they had signed Gallagher, Bielsa’s side’s chances of success would surely have been increased.
