David Ornstein has suggested that Tottenham could make another move to sign Conor Gallagher this summer.

The comments were made during a Q&A (question and answer) session for The Athletic.

So, what did David Ornstein say about Tottenham and Conor Gallagher? Let’s take a look…

Tottenham could make another move for Conor Gallagher

Well, The Athletic’s Football Correspondent was asked who Tottenham’s No.1 target for the summer transfer window is.

Ornstein conceded that he did not know, but suggested that it could well be Gallagher based on his intuition.

He said: “Truth is I don’t know at this stage, but even in January we saw Tottenham sign player who were not previously reported as their top targets. Many people were talking about Todibo joining and Spurs ended up prioritising Dragusin. Werner came pretty much out of nowhere. Bergvall was apparently nailed on to join Barcelona, only for Tottenham to nip in, so let’s wait and see.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Spurs go in for Conor Gallagher again, given they’ve tried before and there has been no meaningful progress on a new contract (existing deal expires in June 2025), but that’s more assumption than information.”

The Telegraph believe Tottenham made a late move to sign the England international towards the end of the 2023 summer transfer window, but walked away after Chelsea demanded £50m.

Now – however – Gallagher’s value is dropping as talks over a new contract at Stamford Bridge fail to progress, with his current terms expiring in July 2025.

Ange Postecoglou adores Conor Gallagher

We also would not be surprised to see Spurs sign the Chelsea No.23 this summer, as Ange Postecoglou is believed to be a huge fan of his.

It was Dean Jones who told Give Me Sport that Gallagher is viewed as a “dream” signing by the Australian.

Therefore – despite the bitter rivalry between Tottenham and Chelsea – Gallagher could be swapping west London for north London this summer if contract talks fail to move forwards.
