‘They’re struggling’: TalkSPORT pundit says £22m Nuno signing is nowhere near good enough for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping they can get their season back on track when they face Crystal Palace this evening.

It will be a tough London derby with Patrick Vieira’s side coming off the back of a 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

Speaking on TalkSPORT (4/1 6:23am), Gabby Agbonlahor was assessing Tottenham’s chances.

Spurs now find themselves five points off the top four, having played the same number of games as Manchester United.

After having such a fantastic start to the season, injuries have caused their form to nose dive in recent months.

Antonio Conte has insisted that Spurs need to look to the transfer market to continue improving their squad.

They struggle without winger Dejan Kulusevski and would like to bring in quality competition in that area.

Right now, Tottenham are also without Richarlison after he picked up an issue playing for Brazil at the World Cup.

However, Agbonlahor has now insisted that young forward Bryan Gil isn’t good enough to play for the club.

The Spaniard is Conte’s next logical option to fill that role, but Agbonlahor has little faith in the £22m forward.

Gil isn’t good enough for Tottenham

Speaking on TalkSPORT this morning, Agbonlahor said: “Kulusevski is injured and Richarlison – they’re really looking like they’re struggling.

“Bryan Gil isn’t good enough.”

Gil made his first league start of the season on New Year’s Day against Aston Villa.

Despite his excellent work-rate the 21-year-old failed to make any real impact.

It would be harsh to blame this solely on the Spaniard, with few Spurs players coming away from the match with any credit.

Gil looks set to leave the club on loan in January, as long as a replacement can be secured this month.

Conte has hinted that the youngster could play again tonight, which would be a boost to his confidence.

However, Agbonlahor is unsure that Gil is good enough to be playing for Tottenham right now.

He certainly has potential, but might not be up to the required standard of a club that are desperate to maintain their Champions League status.
