There’s still a chance Tottenham do sign £40m player this month

Conor Gallagher has been named as one of Tottenham’s top targets throughout the January transfer window.

The Chelsea midfielder is said to be a player that Spurs are very keen on, but, as many have reported, this deal will be difficult to do.

Indeed, Chelsea are demanding big-money for the £40m man, and given that he’s been a regular in Mauricio Pochettino’s side as of late, they’re not too keen to sell him at the moment.

However, speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Matt Law has stated that while this deal may be difficult, it’s not impossible, claiming that Tottenham will keep an eye on this one throughout the January window.

Gallagher move not impossible

Law shared what he knows about the midfielder.

“I think it’s a tough one to get done, they were interested in the summer when Conor was easier to get than in January, now it’s even more difficult, but it’s not impossible, and it’s one Chelsea will have to consider if there’s the right bid. It’s one Tottenham will keep an eye on throughout January, but I don’t see anything happening fast there,” Law said.

One to watch

This may be a saga that runs right until the end of the January window.

As we’ve seen year after year, as the timer on the window ticks down, clubs start to panic and stances around certain transfers change.

If Tottenham haven’t found a midfielder by the final week of the window perhaps they will, again, look towards Gallagher, while Chelsea may be more open to a sale if they aren’t able to raise funds in any other way.

As Law says, this deal isn’t impossible, but it may be a little while before we see any progress on this front.

Regardless, this situation is certainly one to keep an eye on as we enter the business end of the transfer window.
