Arsenal’s lavish summer spending certainly caught the eye, but Theo Walcott has been especially impressed with one recent arrival.

Mikel Arteta splashed out around £250million on an array of superstar additions, including big-name forwards Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke.

Now boasting a starting XI to be feared and formidable squad depth, Arsenal have returned to Premier League duties at the top of the table, one point ahead of Liverpool.

Theo Walcott has kept a keen eye on them this season and believes a new recruit has changed the entire mood around the club.

Theo Walcott says Eberechi Eze signing shows ambition

Speaking in an Amazon Prime video alongside comedian Jack Whitehall, the pundit lavished praise on the game-changing Eberechi Eze.

“Do you know what, I think the fact that we’re not afraid to really commit in the transfer window, and we’re talking about the players that they signed and where Eze was going, where he wasn’t going,” said Walcott.

“That’s kind of changed the whole flow of where Arsenal sit now, I think that particular signing.”

Eze has already raised the excitement levels at Arsenal, despite moving between the left wing and No 10 positions and interchanging with Martin Odegaard.

Signed from Crystal Palace for £67.5million, the playmaker has brought flair and creativity to his new side, helping make them the favourites to win the top-flight.

Shortly after his arrival, Walcott claimed Eze will ‘unlock everything’ for Arsenal, pointing to his versatility, maturity on and off the field and his character.

Mikel Arteta praises Eberechi Eze

After wrapping up Eze’s return to his boyhood club in August, Arteta waxed lyrical about the forward, saying he had a “special aura”.

“I’m really impressed with him,” said the Arsenal boss. “I heard a lot of things about him. I spoke to a lot of people about him. He’s really bright, has very special energy and a special aura around him. He’s really willing.

“He’s already gathered a lot of information on the things that we want to see on the pitch. But especially, making sure that he has the freedom and the capacity to express his quality, which is the reason why we brought him here.

“I think when you are next to him, you are comfortable. He’s got a big smile. He asks you the right questions. And then just let him flow with that ball and the ability he has to pick passes, to drive past people effortlessly and just to understand the timing of things, very impressive.”
