Theo Walcott gave his reaction to Arsenal officially announcing Eberechi Eze ahead of the Premier League clash in the Premier League against Leeds United.

Eberechi Eze is officially an Arsenal player. The dazzling midfielder joins Arsenal from Crystal Palace for £67.5m, and becomes Mikel Arteta’s latest signing in what is a blockbuster summer.

Eze’s position for Arsenal will be to play on the left and as the number ten, and his creativity will go a long way as they look to win the Premier League title.

This is something duly noted by former Gunners winger Theo Walcott.

Theo Walcott on Arsenal signing Eberechi Eze

Speaking pre-match to Sky Sports, Walcott delivered the following verdict on Arsenal’s new man.

I tell you what, I wish I’d done my [Premier League] prediction after this announcement. He’s a player so versatile, so creative. What really fits the bill as well is he’s an Arsenal player – the way he plays, his maturity off the field, his character.

“He’s a big Arsenal fan, of course, and he’s had a really interesting journey, from Millwall to Arsenal. It just shows that if you keep at it, good things will come if you wait.

“I think he’s a player who now really sets the bar high for Arsenal’s player of the year. He just unlocks everything – for the defenders, for the team overall. For me, it’s exciting.”

Eze will be something completely new for Arsenal. He is a player who has far exceeded expectations everywhere he’s been. The likelihood is it will be the same at the Emirates.

Jamie Redknapp on Eze signing

Jamie Redknapp, who also hailed Max Dowman, also had praise for Eze.

“You need extra quality, like you said, creativity,” Redknapp begins.

“And he’s just got that aura about him. I think when he gets the ball, it’s like the game stands still.”

Eze could debut for Arsenal against Liverpool next week, in what would be a baptism of fire for the England international. One that, most definitely, he’d be up for.
